The CT scan this morning showed that the ventricles were becoming smaller (less pressure on the brain) and the lumbar drain was working. However, there was some bleeding in the brain from the location where the external drain was removed yesterday afternoon. Dr. Prall plans to monitor her closely over the next several days with daily CT scans to determine how well her body is able to reduce the blood clotting around the internal shunt that will need to be replaced before she is released from the Littleton ICU.
She continues to be very sleepy, but late this afternoon she opened her eyes briefly while Tara read a daily devotion to her. The feeding tube into her stomach was also restarted late afternoon (it has been turned off for about 60 hours). Please pray with us that she will re-start her recovery now that the hydrocephalus has been identified.
