Shunt Replacement Surgery Completed

Tania was taken downstairs at 9:00 a.m. and returned to her ICU room at 12:45 p.m. Dr. Prall said the surgery went well, but he will need to confirm the shunt is working properly after reviewing a CT scan tomorrow morning. Tania had her eyes open when she returned to ICU. Tania's nurse said that she also tracked movement with her eyes this afternoon.

If the weekend recovery goes smoothly, we plan to transfer her to a new long term acute care hospital early next week. We have chosen Select Speciality Hospital (28 beds) that is located within Porter Hospital at 25th and Downing Street in Denver. This hospital has the equipment to complete CT scans and several of the doctors that have been caring for her at Littleton Adventist also make rounds at Select.

We are most grateful for the support and prayers for Tania's sugery today and we are optimistic that the eighth brain surgery will be her last.
