9-1 update - Tania had a set-back last night and today she has had surgery to relive pressure on the brain (a drain) and also had a Vena Cava filter installed in the main artery near the lungs to prevent clots from going into the lungs or the heart. She is back on the breathing equipment and heavy sedation. Obviously, she continues to need our prayers for her recovery. Thanks. Rollie
8-29 email update - My mom had her ventilator removed this morning. YEAH! This is a major milestone because they will no longer need to keep her sedated. She has a very sore throat and will need some time to heal before she is talking. My dad says she has 25,000 words a day and they are stacking up, so we are excited to have her talking to us soon. She will remain in ICU so they can monitor her brain blood vessels for a minimum of 1 more week. Thanks! Tara
8-25 email update - My mom's brain surgery was a success last night! The Dr. was able to clip the aneurysm. In simple terms, he put a spring loaded clip (like a clothes pin) on the bulge so that blood could not fill the bulge and leak again. However, the blood that already leaked will have to be absorbed into her body and there are some risk factors during that time. She will remain on the ventilator for a little while and they will keep her sedated. Over the next couple days, the ventilator should come out and they will lighten the sedation. I look forward to seeing her eyes open and being able to communicate with her! The Dr. yesterday said the normal recovery path for her injury would be 2 weeks in ICU, then regular hospital, next to rehab and finally home. This will be a long road. We do ask for continued prayer. Thank you to all our family and friends for your incredible support! Tara
On 8-23 she had an angiogram that took precise pictures of the brain aneurysm.
On 8-21 Tania was rushed to Littleton ER about 11pm and put through a bunch of tests. The Doctors determined that she had a brain aneurysm. She was transferred from the ER to ICU about 3:30 AM on Saturday 8-22 (her birthday).
