Dr. Prall evaluated Tania this morning and determined that he would prefer to wait on the shunt. Her white blood count is creeping back up and her temperature was 100.6. His plan is to continue to monitor both of these over the weekend to see if they stay steady or if there is a spike in either. If she remains steady, he plans to perform the shunt surgery Monday afternoon and then monitor her for 24-48 hours. Given that time frame, she would remain in ICU until next Wednesday or Thursday and then move to LTAC (Long Term Acute Care). As we have learned, time frames are very flexible, so we will keep you posted.
They lowered the pressure in the brain yesterday and she is more alert this morning.
