This afternoon we had our first family conference with Dr. Weintraub, Dr. Berry, Kent Hamstra (our family service counselor) and Tania's three primary therapists. Dr. Weintraub started the conference by showing us the CT scan images of Tania's brain. He identified the left side of her head (that controls the right side of the body) as the location where the bleeding had caused some brain damage. Both doctors and the therapists were encouraging as they talked about the progress that Tania has made in the past two week. Dr. Weintraub mentioned a goal for December is for Tania to recover to the stage of receiving a day pass for Christmas. The next goal that he discussed is for Tania to be released from the hospital before the end of January. Two of the therapists will be visiting our home within the next couple of weeks to determine if it a safe environment for Tania to live in. I expect that some modifications may be necessary.
Tania enjoyed spending time with the family this afternoon (especially granddaughter Saydie). It has also been a couple of weeks since she saw Ryan. We continue to be amazed at the progress that Tania is making.
