Early this morning the doctor removed the trach from Tania's throat. Her breathing is good and this marks one more sign of the recovery progress. The medicines are also working to make her more awake and alert. Perhaps one day soon she will try to talk again since she has not spoken since the end of August.
During three different evaluations today, it was determined that Tania has not recovered sufficiently to participate in three hours of daily therapy. Consequently, she was turned down by one rehab hospital today and we expect two more denials tomorrow.
Tania was accepted by two sub-acute nursing home facilities today, but both indicated that currently no beds were available. We may need to expand our search tomorrow to a larger geographic area to find a skilled nursing home that Tania can move to this weekend.

Praying for insurance to not be complicated, for you to find a great place for her to move (if necessary) and for her to speak some verbal words. You are all in our thoughts and prayers here!
ReplyDeleteRollie - the small signs are wonderful. You know that she is "in there" waiting.
