Accepted to Craig Rehab Hospital!!!

The last few days have felt similar to the high school experience of applying for college. Essentially each rehab hospital and skilled nursing facility was sent a packet of paper like an application and some had representatives come observe Tania. My dad and I also went on the campus tours of several different facilities with different levels of medical care and focus. During this process we applied to a top rehab hospital, some additional rehab hospitals as well as some skilled nursing facilities. Just like college applications, you have the schools you expect to get into and those you probably don't stand a chance, but you have to apply to at least one. Given Tania's rancho rating at a level 3 (11/3 blog post), we were told that rehab hospitals typically do not accept patients under a level 5. Today Tania got accepted to Craig Rehab Hospital....the college equivalent is a student with a low GPA getting accepted into Harvard. We are ecstatic!

Tania is scheduled to move to Craig on Monday. I have copied a few excerpts from news reports and websites about Craig:
  • Craig is exclusively dedicated to the specialty rehabilitation and research for patients with spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury.
  • The 93-bed Englewood hospital at any given time has 50 patients with spinal cord injuries, 30 with traumatic brain injuries and 50 outpatients.
  • U.S. News & World Report routinely ranks it among the nation's top 10 rehabilitation hospitals.
  • Craig's staff has an unusually long tenure, with physicians averaging 18 years and physical therapists more than 15.
  • In 2008, patients came to Craig from 47 states and several foreign countries

My dad was asked today how Tania got accepted into Craig and the only answer we have is divine intervention. Thank you for so much for your prayer! This is a huge praise! As we make this transition, please pray for alertness and strength for Tania as she enters the rehab hospital.
